hi, i have a wired problem with my macbook hd. i can see the following directorys in the root of my disk:
Benutzer
bin
cores
etc
Library
private
Programme
sbin
System
tmp
usr
var
Volumes
i think there only should be "Benutzer, Library, Programme, System" visible. have tried to switch of the visibility in the terminal, also have tried to do this with the tools "Onyx" and "Cocktail" - but with no luck!
also im digging the whole web for a solution, but i am the only one with this i guess.
anyone has a hint for me, i appreciate a lot!
i did not expect to find it anymore, but i just have found (by surprise) the solution in http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?t...amp;tstart=2368
here it is :-) :
I've had this happen on a few machines, here's how to solve:
Open TextEdit
Create a documnet and put each visible item name you want to stay hidden on a line ie.:
bin
cores
etc
sbin
usr
var
volumes
Then go to the Format menu and select "Make Plain Text".
Now save the file as ".hidden" in the root (make sure you don't have the .txt extension & also uncheck "If no extension is provided, use .txt")
Now restart and those files will be hidden. Note: if you notice any items left out upon restart, you can reopen the ".hidden" file by recent documents.
