Full Version: Will you Buy it?
InsanelyMac Forum > Apple World > OS X > OS X Leopard (10.5)

Okey i Know that this might not sound too good to the fact that we're all keeping torrenting and p2p sharing a secret.. But. Are you planning to buy Leopard? Or will you do... you know...

I think i will buy it... if its under $250 Yes..

t3mur:

Mac OS X Tiger is only $129 for Single User from the Apple Store so I don't think Leopard should be too expensive when it comes out. What do you think?

Of course, you would have to have genuine Mac Hardware to run the retail version of Leopard (or even Tiger for that matter).

For those of us with OSx86 "Hack" machines, our options are a bit limited (but I am not complaining either) wink.gif
t3mur
oh my hardware is genuin okey... this might shock many but.. i dont even have a pc..
Adrian Fogge
I would buy it if I didn't get it for free on ADC.

Fine, free with the purchase of a $500 copy of the same app a year in advance.

I will be buying iWork and iLife for sure, though.
macbrush
Yes, I would definitely get a family pack, ONLY IF the price is similar to Tiger though.
Kiko
i would buy it if it was worth it (new features) then i'd seed it the first so i could get a crazy ratio tongue.gif
Embio
I will deffinately be there at launch day. There are two Apple stores in Manchester - I'm going to the Arndale because it opens an hour earlier :-)

That is unless I get a student ADC before then of course, although I will probably go along with my friends anyway for their discs.

The problem is that it'll be on Oink and other places before the release…
MacVertigo
If Apple doesn't jack the price up I'll buy it. Like under 200... but I probally won't buy it right away. I want to hear what people are saying about it first. If its worth it..then I will.

I guess I still think in the Microsoft mindset. Never buy the first day.. wait a couple of months till the bugs get worked out.. then buy.
nickg331
im betting ittl be around $150, at most 200. either way ill end up buying it

june 11...

I'll buy it. I need to upgrade my mini to 2GB of RAM though first. I certainly wouldn't bootleg it. Apple isn't forcing serial numbers on us and I want to keep it that way.

I hope they have a special bundle that includes an iLife 07 and iWork 07 upgrades along with Leopard for under $200.
hazkid
Educ price Leopard = $69
iWork = $39
iLife = $39
Total is < $150!
BladeRunner
As you can see from my sig. my system is a PC/OSX hack. However, once I got hooked on OS X Tiger I purchased a copy to set on my book shelf.

Once there is a stable hack of Leopard that runs on my hardware I will purchase a copy of it as well. It will balance out my bookshelf smile.gif

Yes it certainly would be great to atleast get iLife 07 with Leopard. But wheter that will be true or not, I will order it the day it's released. smile.gif

I'll definitely be buying it. iLife is going to be a part of Leopard, Jobs already said that. And it will probably stay around $130 for a single license.
Adrian Fogge
When did he say that?

Hmm, I take that back. Sorry, I could have sworn that he said it. sad.gif Using my awesome powers to change the subject, has anyone seen the sneak-peek for Leopard Server? Just found it here: http://www.apple.com/server/macosx/leopard/, the wiki server sounds really cool.
Soündless
i'll see if i can get out of school to go buy it. (osx is the only software i would pay for(unless there is no torrent))
BlueAvenue
I will wait till a good hack appears on the torrent sites then i will install it on my pc on the same drive with
my present install of 10.4.7. It'll be lots of fun i'm sure.
Abysmal
Considering I have legal copies of Mac OS going back to 7.6.. I guess I will buy this one as well..
Adrian Fogge
I have already bought it from the perspective of paying $500/year for their software.

mrprice33
well, I'm getting a new mac once leopard comes out, so in a way, yes, I'm buying leopard...I'll probably use the same install disc to upgrade my macbook...
kernalzero
I plan on buying it with a new macbook later on this year. I expect some upgrades to the macbook like possibly x3000 graphics to replace intels GMA950 and maybe and LCD upgrade, we'll see but I'll buy
poopyhead43
I would buy it only if i had the money. sad.gif
cfhuk
I'll be sat outside the Arndale Apple Store in Manchester with Embio at about 6 in the morning with a coffee from some mental coffee place that opens that early.

It will be the only piece of software I'll pay for this year I think, maybe iWork 2007 as well, after having the trial of '06.

Having a student loan helps, I'll be setting aside money from this months installment, and hopefully by then I'll have the job I was hoping to get at PC World *shudder*.

Compared to the mental price of Vista, Leopard should be pennies.
Hellzone_Bringer of pain
Simple anwser yes. 64 Bit Computeing will be used more and ICHAT effects WOOT!!! gun.gif Also the cool time machine
twoodcc
i'll most likely buy it with my education discount

Are you planning to buy Leopard?

We will wait around a month to see if there are any major bugs, and then if the coast looks clear we will not only buy Leopard... we will buy a new Mac thumbsup_anim.gif
mr.manatane
Yes, I will buy it at least for the new development tools and objective-c 2.0.

Everthing else will be a bonus.
EFI
For sure ill purchase it, Apple is doing a good job of keeping the OS a serial free installation, and I dont want to take advantage of that or anything. Plus I doubt it will go more than $170...I would say $150, and $200 being the absolute max (but thats probably highly unlikely). Apple has always priced their OS reasonlably, so I dont see a need to bootleg the OS, plus with a student discount, for sure I'll be able to afford it. Ill just wait a week or so to see how the reviews are turning out though. smile.gif
