Full Version: Dock Themes for Download (For Retail Build)
InsanelyMac Forum > Apple World > OS X > OS X Leopard (10.5)
djh816
Here is a pack of themes I made for the leopard dock along with a bash script to update. Please add your submissions too in the thread (preferable format would be a zip of a folder with the images, named correctly, inside). The guide is included in my pack and it does include the original dock files to restore.

Note: Some themes may be found here as well. The ones listed here though are verified as working with my update script. Others in that topic may work but I cannot vouch for all of them.

Another Note: Tons more found here (read site for instructions and app)

How To Apply Themes:
All my script does is replace image files so if ever it does not work, you can just manually place the files back into /System/Library/CoreServices/Dock.app/Contents/Resources. The script is set to copy everything in the current directory (in terminal) to this location. Therefor, to get the originals back or use your own images, just have them named correctly and have terminal's directory set to their's (this is done by just typing "cd " with a space after and then dragging in the folder in which the images are) and then typing "bash " (with a space) and dragging in my 'updatedock' script (Attached to topic below).

How To Change To 2D Dock (on bottom)
Open Terminal and paste in this code (change 'YES' to 'NO' to get 3D back):
CODE
defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean YES; killall Dock

I have two questions. Is there a guide for how to do this safely and is there anyway to bring back the old dock? Please answer and put the answer in the first post so people like me do not have to search for em... Sticky this... Love the docks djh
greatneo
thanks
Adrian Fogge
The old dock resource files are included in DJH816's zip file under "Original Dock Picture Backups".

They can be restored just as easily as loading up a new one.

Hope that answers smile.gif. Thanks for the feedback on the docks too guys.

(also, still waiting for some other people to post a link/attachment to theirs so i can put in the original post. preferable format would be a folder with the images, preferably named correctly, with my update script included. this would be the easiest way for me to also get previews for the dock and be a uniformed way of applying a new theme)

There are a bunch of really cool Dock customizations in this thread: Hacking Leopard GUI.

Dark Dock and DockTweak.app are my favorites.

Perhaps you should make a reference in the original post?
djh816
the only advantage to docktweak i see if that it can make dock 2d. ill add instructions for that to the top post
Ayanami
That needs to work on the 559 build. Still haven't upgraded.
Berzerker
I've made some better indicators for those using dark dock skins. It gets rid of the annoying reflection on the dock. You can edit them once you get them, but by default, they are blue.

Any chance better side docks can be made? The default style for the side dock is gross.

really all u can do is change the border and the outline shape. the base shade is set.
Taylor_C
Anyone know where I can get this dock mod? It's -exactly- what I've been looking for ><

xplizid
similar to what i have the borders on that one are not right they left the opacity on the sides the same :/.

i hope this is what your asking for. this is only for the bottom for the right or left rename as necessary also dont add seperator file if happy with current.

Taylor_C
That will be fine. Thanks a lot. smile.gif

Another Note: Ton's more found here (read site for instructions and app)

PLEASE. Get rid of that apostrophe in tons. Ton is not possessing anything, so please, get rid of that apostrophe.

Sorry. I'm crazy when it comes to grammar.
eXcalibUr88

I second this request.
Taylor_C
I contacted the original poster of that screenshot, and he's going to send me the files, but I won't release because it's his work. I do hope he decides to release them publicly, though, it's a great dock.
rathalos
Here's a lightning separator i made for myself... jus thought i would share with guys who has dark backgrounds or a dark dock....

I was just wondering, no matter what program i use, if i put the dock on the side and not along the bottom, it always uses the default theme. Is this just what happens or am i encountering some problem that there is a solution to? thanks smile.gif
